Its that time of the year again, where we spoil those incredible women we call mothers. We all know that the word ‘MOM’ actually translates to ‘SUPERHERO’. I have compiled a list of simple gift ideas for mom, whether you have an unlimited budget or a modest on.

This one is especially for those moms that will be celebrating Mothers Day for the first time. We need the dads, friends and family to give these moms a break on Sunday. Offer to babysit so that mom can have a day on her own or do whatever she would like to do, without having to worry about taking care of someone else…I know this will be difficult for the moms to let their babies go for a day, its that well deserved break…take it.

There is something so nostalgic about making something with your hands for mom. I remember being 7 years old and my mothers eyes lighting up when I handed over my glitter covered cardboard cards with breakfast in bed. Take a leaf from those past experiences and get your hands dirty. Bake her some cupcakes or a homemade card…this gesture never dies and it does not cost an arm and a leg.

Writing letters has become a dying art, so write mom a letter expressing your gratitude, take the time to sit and think about what you would like to say and write from your heart. Make it extra special by using pretty stationary such as handmade paper and seal it with old school raffia string. Give to her on mothers days and let her sit with it while she savors every single word.

Give mom an experience, depending on your budget, you can go big or keep it simple. A manicure voucher  always hits the spot, but try and convince ma’ to try something new like nail art, instead of the normal stuff. If mom is into cooking, book her a cooking class in something she’s never tried before, like Moroccan cuisine…I love the cooking class idea, because I will continue to benefit from her culinary skills.

For those that have mother that have passed on. You can also use Mothers Day, as a day to remember the superhero you once had in your life. Light a candle on Sunday and cook her favorite meal for your family or friends.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers in the entire world!
