Staying fashion relevant from season to season is very important to me. Adding key pieces to your wardrobe is a must, so you can get through the summer months in absolute style. We need not be trend slaves, choose what works for you and go with it. Now, let me assist you in packing for your up coming summer vacation and make sure you stay in vogue and on trend.
- TINTED LENSES
An essential part of summer 2015 is the tinted lens sunnies. I particularly love them in the classic aviator shape, tinted in different hues. Lets add filters to our summer vision this season.
2. KNEE HIGH GLAD’S (GLADIATORS)
The higher the better!!! what is summer without a great pair of gladiator sandals? The only difference this season is that they are higher than ever!! Gladiators have always been a statement summer staple! Rock them with short-shorts or a loose over sized dress, with statement accessories, big earrings, bracelet clusters or even a huge African print neck-piece. Lets get our warrior stance on this summer. My personal favorite are from Ivorian Fashion Designer LOZAMA LEOMBHO they are absolutely fabulous!
3. WIDE LEG PANTS / MAXI PANTS
This is what was affectionately known as Pallazzo pants back when I was growing up, I’m so happy they are back! Wide leg pants in beautiful light weight fabrics adds cool to the summer heat. These Maxi pants look their best paired with a simple tank top or a dainty silky camisole. I haven’t seen the pleated version yet, but i’m it will advance to those levels in summer 2016.
4. WE HAVE BEEN MULED
Another of the shoes that I cried for in the early 90’s and my mother did not budge, was the mule… Now I can indulge myself as an adult. By far one of the most comfortable heels I have. The chunky heel has been trending for a while now, it was only a matter of time until the mule was giving the spotlight again. They go with most items in your wardrobe, dresses, culottes, skinny/tapered pants etc…
5. KHAKIS NOT FOR THE ARMY
The colour for this summer is Combat Khaki. Add a few khaki pieces in your wardrobe, think sleeveless parka jacket, loose draw-string pants, suede leather handbag etc. Style this colour with whites, beige and cobalt blue, and you will be up to date this season.
6. AFRICAN PRINT ACCESSORIES
African print fabrics have been trending for a few seasons now, from Burberry to David Tlale, these prints have been gracing the runways around the world. What I’m absolutely loving is the African print fabric accessories. Earrings, statement neck-pieces, handbags etc. Adding a pop of African colour has never been so easy and so close to home.

7. SPORTS LUXE
Tights and sweats are not restricted to the gym only, these have been restyled and are have hit the street hard! It is, in my opinion fun to wear, easy and hell’a comfortable. I’m loving printed tights with crisp white shirt and statement sneakers. Channel inner athlete in you and dabble in a little sport luxe.
