Its getting a little chili in the mornings, & nippy at night as we draw closer to winter. I love this time of year when we have to start preparing our wardrobes for  the new season. Autumn/Winter trends are fun and easy wearing this year, comfort and style has never been so effortless. If you are looking for key pieces to add to your winter wardrobe, I have compiled a list of the trends that I thought are worth trying.

MAUVE is back!!
MAUVE is back!!

Remember the days when your granny, aunt or mother referred to a colour called mauve? I never really knew what hue they were talking about, and have always pegged or associated it with old folks (I am not an ageist, just an observation)…Well mauve is back! and is one of the choice colours for winter.

Sleeveless coats...LOOVE!!
Sleeveless coats…LOOVE!!

I am loving the sleeveless coat vibes. Perfect for the South African winter. It’s boyish styling works well with both Pants & skirts. I’d suggest having fun with a colour crew-neck sweater or knit top that will add a pop of colour at the sleeves.

Who said lace is for summer, or warmer temperatures!! Myth busted this season, winter lace has made a great comeback. Whether it is heavy guipure or light & airy french lace on skirts or dresses, this is one texture that should find its way into your wardrobe this season.

Think old school grannies knitting, knits. The chunkier and cheesier the better. Great for the DYI types, chunky scarves, sweaters or dresses will keep you warm and on trend this winter.

Thigh-high socks are quiet the craze this season, paired with long or booties. You can rock your short-shorts, or mini’s with your over the knee sock. I love the double layering of an opaque stocking and then a layer of thigh-highs over it. This is a fun & playful winter must have.

My favourite...Can't get enough!!
My favourite…Can’t get enough!!

This is my personal favourite! I am one of those ladies that have never really warmed up to the skinny pants. I love culottes because they are roomy, elegant, skirt-turned-pants hybrid. My mother used to rock these in the early 90’s. Happy they have made a comeback as these will be a staple in my wardrobe in the winter.

Happy trending friends!
